What we do

The Global Alliance for Inclusion and Ethnic Diversity in Parkinson’s is a new initiative so as to address massive health inequities in relation to care, research and clinical trials in diverse Parkinson’s population and racial groups. The Global Alliance for Inclusion and Ethnic Diversity in Parkinson’s exists to ensure equality and inclusion in Parkinson’s Care, Research and Trials for people with Parkinson’s from ethnic minority backgrounds around the world.

We do this by:

  • Propagating consensus views from a global advisory board of key opinion leaders with a track record in the field of cross cultural research in Parkinson’s

  • Providing membership to organisations globally who work with people affected by Parkinson’s

  • Developing real life and evidence based guidelines to support organisations around the world on how to ensure their work in the areas of Care, Research and Trials are fully inclusive, culturally sensitive and ethnically diverse.

  • Providing certification of approval for clinical trials that are assessed as ethnically diverse and inclusive

  • Carry out research to best understand the needs and care standards of Black and Asian people with Parkinson’s

  • Conduct global surveys to broaden understanding and increase participation amongst Black and Asian people with Parkinson’s

  • Collecting valuable data on Black and Asian people with Parkinson’s across the globe  to create a database for socio-cultural policy making think tanks.
